EMPOWERMENT
Important amendments to the Fair Access to Regulated Professions and Compulsory Trades Act, 2006 (“FARPACTA”) received Royal Assent on December 2, 2021. This came as part of Bill 27, the Working for Workers Act, 2021, which made changes to various statutes related to labor and employment matters. The amendments to FARPACTA were specifically focused on removing barriers to registration for internationally trained professionals. Our aim is to empower our members through inclusivity, mentorship, peer-to-peer networking, and coaching.
Mentoring and coaching share similar principles but are not identical. A coach is a person who teaches others the techniques to successfully accomplish something. They help develop the skills and competence needed for success and also provide guidance, feedback, and support. On the other hand, a mentor, while employing some of the same tactics, is someone to look up to and seek advice from. Mentors provide coaching and feedback and offer guidance or advice beyond that of a coach.
