Terms and Conditions

SPAN-EA commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive community, we have developed this membership policy to outline the expectations and guidelines for all members. By agreeing to this policy, you are agreeing to abide by the rules and regulations set forth herein. 

  1. Eligibility:
    1. Membership is open to all building professionals, including architects and engineers, practicing in Canada. 
    2. Individuals must be of legal age to join SPAN-EA. 
  2. Code of Conduct: 
    1. Respect: Members must treat each other with respect and professionalism at all times, regardless of differences in opinion, background, or experience. 
    2. Non-Discrimination: Discrimination or harassment of any kind based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, age, disability, or any other characteristic is strictly prohibited. 
    3. Integrity: Members are expected to uphold the highest standards of integrity and ethical conduct in their professional and personal dealings.
    4. Confidentiality: Members shall respect the confidentiality of sensitive information shared within SPAN-EA and refrain from disclosing such information without proper authorization. 
    5. Collaboration: Members are encouraged to collaborate and share knowledge and expertise for the betterment of the community and the industry as a whole.
  3. Prohibited Activities: 
    1. Political Activities: SPAN-EA does not endorse or support any political party or candidate, and members are prohibited from using the platform for political campaigning or advocacy.
    2. Religious Activities: While members are free to practice their religion, religious activities, proselytizing, or discussions promoting any specific religious beliefs are not permitted within SPAN-EA.
    3. Discriminatory Practices: Any form of discrimination, including but not limited to racism, sexism, homophobia, or xenophobia, will not be tolerated.
    4. Illegal Activities: Members must refrain from engaging in any illegal activities or activities that may bring disrepute to SPAN-EA or its members.
    5. Commercial Solicitation: Direct solicitation of business or clients within SPAN-EA is prohibited.
  4. Compliance:
    1. Members are expected to familiarize themselves with this policy and comply with its provisions at all times.
    2. Violations of this policy may result in disciplinary action, including but not limited to warning, suspension, or expulsion from the NGO.
  5. Privacy and Information Sharing:
    1. Members may be required to provide personal information during the sign-up process for administrative and communication purposes.
    2. SPAN-EA is committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of members' personal information and will not share it with third parties without consent, except as required by law.
    3. Members are responsible for safeguarding their login credentials and ensuring the security of their personal information stored within the SPAN-EA's systems.
    4. Any sharing of personal information within the SPAN-EA's community platforms should be done with discretion and respect for privacy.
    5.  Members should refrain from sharing sensitive personal information that could compromise their security or privacy. 
  6. Conflict of Interest:
    1. Members should disclose any potential conflicts of interest that may arise in their participation within SPAN-EA, particularly if it relates to projects, collaborations, or activities involving other members.
    2. Transparency and honesty in dealing with conflicts of interest are essential to maintain the integrity and credibility of SPAN-EA and its members. 
  7. Communication Channels: 
    1. SPAN-EA may provide various communication channels for members to interact, including but not limited to forums, mailing lists, and social media groups.
    2. Members are encouraged to utilize these channels responsibly, ensuring that discussions remain constructive and respectful.
  8. Professional Development Opportunities: 
    1. SPAN-EA may offer professional development opportunities, such as workshops, seminars, and networking events, to enhance members' skills and knowledge.
    2. Members are encouraged to actively participate in these opportunities to further their professional growth and contribute to the collective expertise of the community.
  9. Volunteer and Leadership Opportunities:
    1. Members are invited to contribute their time and expertise to volunteer initiatives and leadership roles within the SPAN-EA, such as committee memberships or event coordination.
    2. Volunteering not only benefits the organization but also provides members with valuable leadership experience and networking opportunities.
  10. Feedback and Suggestions:
    1. SPAN-EA values feedback and suggestions from its members on how to improve its programs, services, and operations.
    2. Members are encouraged to provide constructive feedback and suggestions through designated feedback channels or directly to SPAN-EA’s leadership team.
  11. Termination of Membership:
    1. SPAN-EA reserves the right to terminate or suspend a member's membership for violations of this policy or for conduct detrimental to the organization's mission and values.
    2. Members whose membership is terminated or suspended will be notified of the reasons for such action and may have the opportunity to appeal the decision.
  12. Amendments: 
    1. This policy may be amended from time to time at the discretion of SPAN-EA's Board.
    2. Members will be notified of any changes to the policy, and their continued membership implies acceptance of the updated terms.
